Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America

A NATIONAL VOICE FOR THE 2.8 MILLION VETERANS OF IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

ABOUT IAVA

Founded in 2004 by an Iraq veteran, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is the first and largest organization for new veterans and their families, with nearly 300,000 members and supporters nationwide. IAVA is a 21st century veterans’ organization dedicated to standing with the 2.8 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan from their first day home through the rest of their lives.

IAVA MODEL

IAVA strives to build an empowered generation of veterans who provide sustainable leadership for our country and their local communities. We work toward this vision through programs in four key impact areas: supporting new veterans in health, education, employment and building a lasting community for vets and their families. We create impact in those critical areas through assistance to veterans and their families, raising awareness about veterans’ issues and advocacy for supportive policy from the federal to the local level.

OREGON SUMMER STAR

CAMP FOR CHILDREN OF DEPLOYED SERVICEMEMBERS

USO Northwest has opened its first center in Oregon!  Under the leadership of Col (Ret) Joe Williams, the Port has generously provided space at Portland International Airport (PDX) for a new USONW center.

With the help of our local veteran community, the USO will be able to provide our Servicemembers with a place of comfort, relaxation and brotherhood as they travel to or through Portland.

It is the hope of Northwest Veterans Law that all military veterans will continue their mission of service and help others who are in need.  Highlight of these organizations does not imply the endorsement of Northwest Veterans Law by the USO, Tsuga Community Commission or IAVA.
